About — Raul Mihai

My name is Raul Mihai and I’m a visual storyteller based in Hernani, Basque Country (Spain).

I grew up really curious about everything and now I’m trying to keep honoring that little version of me. When I was growing up I used to have the opportunity to play with my father's analog camera portraying what caught my attention. At the age of twelve, I returned to having a camera in my hand and began to rediscover photography, at the same time that I was also getting started in filmmaking. My audiovisual education is mainly self-taught. I started early to experiment and carry out different projects, both photographic and audiovisual. Now I am 24 years old, with a neverending curiosity and in a constant search for new stories to tell that fullfill me.

TRAJECTORY:

I have a background in documentary photography, author photography, still photography in short films and filmmaking projects, and for the past years I’ve been working more with production companies filming commercials and doing short-form documentaries.

I previously worked with a wide variety of clients nationally and internationally and my work has been seen in many places. Among them; the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Photogune Fine Art Photography Lab, EITB, Gaztea, Aspace, AECC, European Capital of Culture 2016 (Donostia-San Sebastian) and Tabakalera - International Centre for Contemporary Culture, Basque Country Government, HBO, Netflix, Nissan, Arteuparte Gallery, Basque Luxury, Emakumeak Mugimenduan, Lotzen ADD, Skochypstiks, Kapen, etc.

Currently, I’m looking forward to be working more on projects with a strong social and/or environmental theme. And also in projects related to dance and movement. With different brands, athletes, production companies, etc.
